Mentor
Group sponsors a Fruit Picking Tour to Brentwood
The event is basically organized by the mentors group for the CUHK students. Other members of OAACUHK
are also welcome, especially those who can provide rides for
students.

The starting time for the tour is 8:30 at Ehrman's Building (UC
Berkeley Residence Halls) at 2650 Haste St, Berkeley. The
destination is Brentwood via HW580 and turn to Vasco Road. We shall visit a couple of farms around there until
noon, then go to a park (or Lake Valle Regional Park) to have picnic.
The time to return is 4 p.m. |

Hi everybody
The event is now set at 4 PM, Sunday, Sept 14. The place is
Spangender
Performing Art Center, Gumn High School, Palo Alto. The program includes
Firebird Youth Classic Chinese music group and Shao Lin Wu Kung,
The three AAs will perform two programs. One is to read
classic poem with different dialects. Our organization will send three
people, one of Cantonese, one of Hakka, and one of Toa San. We also
should
have about 10 people to be part of the singing group. All three major
performing groups are very professional, and highly praised by both Main
stream critics and Chinese audiences.
The fund raised at the door, advertising revenue and the ticket sale
proceed, after deduct expenses will be used to build a school or two.
During
the intermission, a fund raising campaign will recruit people to sponsor
children in need. The cost of the child will be determined by age. We
have
contacted Sing Sing Education Foundation for school building, and Peach
foundation for child assistance adoption. Both foundations are Bay Area
based with no administration fee charge. All workers are volunteers pay
for
their own traveling expenses. Sing Sing is a much larger group. It has
build
more than 200 schools in the remote areas. Peach has assisted more than
2,000 children during the past 10 years. More coordination and meeting will be held in the next few weeks.
There are
also a lot of work to be done. We need people to help sell tickets,
guide
seats, sell program advertising. We need more of our members to
work on
this worthwhile project. Please contact Edward Lee or Tony Kwock if you are

鑒於香港中文大學新亞書院藝術系於今年（2007年）慶祝該系成立五十周年，而且新亞書院將於2009
年慶祝建校六十周年，香港中文大學新亞書院北加州校友會計劃於
2008 年農曆新年開始，舉辦師生校友書畫展，宣揚新亞精神，培植校友情誼，並且藉此推廣三藩市灣區居民對中國文化與藝術的認識。
此次畫展獲三藩市加州州立大學鼎力支持合辦，將在該校三藩市市中心新建分校(SF State Downtown Campus, 835 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94103)舉辦，爲期六個月。歡迎校友提供自作和藏品參展，但由於經費有限，來回運費和沿途保險費需由參加者自付，或由其他校友運帶。

《根之茂者》簡介
本書是香港中文大學崇基校友會為紀念五十五週年校慶獻給母校的賀禮，除了收集歷任院長的序言外，還收集不同年代校友的文章，從五零年代至二零零年代。由崇基創校初期的艱辛情況、六零年代的寄宿生活、七零年代的火紅參與、八零年代的浪漫歲月、九零年代的高科技，直至二千年新世紀探索將來的新年代，横跨歲月超過半個世紀，每篇文章皆反映了其獨特的時代背景及崇基學生的經歷。本書的彩色插圖十分精美，書後附錄歷屆學生會幹事名單，是崇基校友集體紀憶的一部分，極具參考價值。

Lake Chabot Regional Park
Lake Chabot is a reservoir that was built in 1874-75 as a
primary source of water for the East Bay. Named for Anthony Chabot, the engineer and
community leader who designed and built its dam. Currently, the lake serves as a standby

eastbound, exit at Redwood Road and go left, go left at Castro Valley Blvd., right at Lake
Chabot Road, and follow the directions above. Look for a sign that says "Lake Chabot
Marina" on Lake Chabot Road, that is the entrance.
Our reserved picnic site is called "Turtle
Par Course". It is the first picnic site on your right after passing the
entrance cabin. (If in doubt, ask the ranger at the entrance cabin)
Activities: Fishing, games, boating, biking, hiking,
golfing.
Parking: $5.00 per vehicle per day. Free parking is
available on Lake Chabot Road. To walk from the entrance cabin to the "Turtle Par
Course" is about 2-3 minutes.

| OAACUHK will
hold our summer picnic on Sunday, June 29, 2003, at Lake Chabot Regional Park,
17930 Lake Chabot Road, Castro Valley, CA 94546. All alumni, teaching faculty, and
friends are welcome. Picnic fee is $10.00 per person, free for children under the
age of ten. Picnic program:

Lake Chabot Regional Park
Lake Chabot is a reservoir that was built in 1874-75 as a
primary source of water for the East Bay. Named for Anthony Chabot, the engineer and
community leader who designed and built its dam. Currently, the lake serves as a standby

Dr. Evelyn Lee Passed Away |
| Our association
(OAACUHK) announces with deep sorrow that Evelyn Lee, Ph.D., a long-time supporter of our
association, passed away on 3/25/03. Her spouse Dr. Henry Fong survives her.
Evelyn was the executive director of RAMS (Richmond Area Multi-services, Inc.) in San
Francisco. She had served as the president for the past six years and was also vice
president of the San Francisco Mental Health Contractors Association and a National Mental
Health Association Board Member. She was a graduate of Chung Chi college, the
Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring in social work. She was well respected in
the Mental Health field, particularly in the Asian community in the San Francisco Bay
Area. Details of her memorial service are
as follows: Date: Sunday, 4/6/03; Time: 2:00 p.m.; Place:
Hire-ability Community Center, 1234 Indiana Street, San Francisco, CA 94107.
In memory of Evelyn, her surviving spouse has expressed
his preference that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to center for
Compassionate Living. The Center will later decide on the usage of the donation.
For those mail-in donations, please send it to : Center

the memo column that it is for in memory of Evelyn Lee.
